“I’m the Tax Man”
“and you’re working for no one but me.”
Taxes. No one has the gonads to say it. Everyone knows it, and if you don’t’ you’re kinda dense to say the least. We do not need to cut taxes. Neigh, we can’t cut taxes and if anything we should be raising taxes.
I am going to explain this as simply as possible. If you have an apple tree and you refuse to water it, it is not going to produce all that many apples. Then you are forced to buy apples from other people on their own terms, make do with your measly supply or go with out apples all together.
A government is a social institution that lays organization and civility over a given geographical area or areas. It is paid for by the population for the well being of the population, yet while tax cuts overwhelmingly favor the wealthy and corporations receive subsidies let alone tax breaks, funding for social institutions that people should be paying for are continuously cut.
Oddly enough, there isn’t any clear number for the misspending except that it’s in the billions. Many a blog and news article has pieces here and there and the only argument for tyrannical subsidies for those such as “big oil” is the fact that renewable energy and state/ local governments get more money. How does money being spent on the society get brought in on the conversation about money being given away to non- governmental entities. It doesn’t matter how we spend the money frankly.
That issue only comes in after we end giving breaks and handout to those who don’t need them. Which…they should no? The question is, if corporate welfare should exist at all, baring the development of new and needed technologies why should a corporation receive money from the people when the people desperately need the money themselves?
Corporate American and the Government neither seem to be forth coming on the actual figures which makes me wonder if it’s like riot in the streets ridiculous and that’s why no ones opens up with the details.
How I see it, we are paying for pharmaceutical companies’ research so they can charge us an arm and a leg before their paten runs out. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), buy out every representative they can to keep it that way and prevent any emergence of natural medicines or traditional medical techniques. We are paying military contractors three times what they deserve to make some more politicians friends happy in the lobbyist world. We pay to clean up messes left by banks and oil companies and fight proxy wars drummed up my more corporate lobbyists’.
All paid for by the people yet, now it seems it’s the teachers, police, middle class and the blue collar work force that are greedy. It seems the corporations expect to get their money back like real people get their tax returns, but they aren’t real people. A healthy society that allows its existence is return enough. Large parts of the government’s money should never be spent of bailing out corporate entities or rewarding them to not pollute or to modernized
A society’s health, education, infrastructure and defense are what people are paying for yet those are the areas (besides defense) always getting squeezed. Those who benefit from the society the greatest by having an infrastructure, healthy workers and a policed society don’t want to pay for it. Hell, no one wants to pay taxes; everyone wants to be a free loader.
You can believe what I have said or not. Look it up yourself, I am not supplying links. My opinions are based on years of merely paying attention with an OPEN mind, reading, questioning, and leaning to understand how things work. I have learned to filter out the bullshit and see the logical path. It’s like the reading comprehension on the SAT’s. It could be six paragraphs long, but only three sentences are worth a damn. Search for yourself and never stop.
But believe this, like the health care industry, they will cut every social service they can so they can privatize it and turn it into a business where they can make their own rules. Privatized education, privatized police, privatized water, it won’t end and you will not only be paying taxes but you will be paying some conglomerate for everything that taxes are supposed to be taking care of.
Quick example. I don’t know about you but I did not have to pay for bottle drinking water as a kid. I didn’t have to pay 500 dollars if an ambulance picked me up. If there is a way to squeeze you they will do it. Meanwhile you’re blaming political parties, which hey, I loath myself but when it comes down to it they are just hired guns of the conglomerates. It’s time to stop buying their shit figuratively and literally and pay close attention to the congressmen who get the most cash from them and make it a hazard for elected officials to take money from corporations. Make it as if they are taking money from the mob or some terrorist organization because you know what, they are worse than both combined.
You want jobs? “You have to spend money to make money”, ya heard that before right? Here’s an example. The Great Pyramids were not built by slaves. They were built by a paid workforce hired by the government. They did this to give the people work and keep the economy going while the Nile was flooded. And what is a pyramid? It’s a structure where every level exists because of the strength of the levels below it. I like to think they were making a statement.
But the wealthy don’t seem to see it that way. They believe ignorant and powerless masses that continuously consume their shit works out better for them than strong lower classes that may prevent them from doing whatever they want. Understandable yes. Humane, patriotic, decent….mmmm no.
They think the people who build the roads, buildings, educate their workers, clean up their garbage, ship their goods, feed those people, grow the food, keep order, defend the country and clean the streets should be taxed a higher percentage of their physically earned income than those who rake in exponentially more cash and don’t lift a finger to get it.
More specifically I am talking about the corporate dividend tax. Right off the bat, someone wants to say “double taxation” I will point out that a corporation now a days has as much rights if not more than an individual human being and a hell of a lot more power.
So if you’re so set on treating it as a sentient being where stock holders have no liability on crimes the company commits or can benefit from the political donations the company makes on its own behalf then its going to be taxed like a separate entity. Therefore you as a part of the corporation is taxed, and then you as a individual are taxed.
Speaking of double taxation, why don’t many of these corporate institutions pay higher wages so people aren’t using credit cards all the time? That’s double taxation in a sense no? People are getting paid too little, have to use the credit card, banks make butt loads, loan money to corporations, corporations make money and give it to you. Consider it paying it back, ya know considering that you didn’t do a God damned thing but hold a piece of paper.
You’re nothing but a leach to the system. You own and profit on a piece of some entity yet take no responsibility for their actions, and then you are going to cry that you’re double taxed? Shut up and be happy you are in the situation you are to invest. The easiest money in the world full of poverty to be had legally and people complain. God fearing people you are not.
Double taxation, pfft, people have lost children to these ill advised wars and the economy is in the shit for it while others involved with the government and their lobbyist made money on the conflicts. We’re still paying taxes on it. Many with blood as well as with money. So if your some jerk off bitching about your tax on your stock portfolio where you are making money doing jack (which I bet is still a form of usury if your a Christian) all I can tell you is that what ever god you have is listening and such behavior will get you drop kicked into Hades. And, that I have a boot for your ass as well your perspective-less trash.
“Lazy, unpatriotic and greedy” are a few things that come to mind. Depending on what stock you own I may add “irresponsible” and “with out a conscious”.
Some talk of a simplified tax system, bullshit. “No Two tier tax system” they cry, you’re not even working for the money just participation in legalized gambling. The Bush tax cuts should be completely annihilated and replaced with something more realistic and functional.
Understand you can’t make your money if it isn’t for the rest of the machine.
Say I use three miles of road to get back and forth to work and you’re a corporate lawyer who needs every piece of infrastructure to keep your clients running, from millions of garbage men, secretaries, sky scrapers, roads, security, all the various things that must be in place for you to have your overpaying pencil pushing, let’s just take from society job, and I should pay the same amount of taxes as you do? Are you freaking serious?
Personally, after 40k every 15k should be a new tax bracket. Make the accountants earn their money. No more crying from those who just reached a higher bracket. The only thing that should get cut is the estate tax. That no matter how you got you’re money, it’s already been taxed and now they are going to get you when you’re dead. That’s just wrong whether you’re leaving 20k or 20 million.
I have question that pertains to states rights as it does taxes. Say a state says it’s their right to refuse building federal infrastructure, for example a bullet train that would create jobs and allow us to get to Vegas comfortably. And as a member of another state that pisses me off. Say they want to replace history and science in the textbooks for religious dogma, and I find that weird. Say they refuse to let dudes marry, tell women what they can and can’t do and readily support war mongers for their ironic, “freedom.” Say they have a twisted view on the value of teachers, labor unions and civil servants.
If they can do all these things at the state level, thumbing their nose at my values, can I decide that my states tax money doesn’t pay for their states existence?
Many talk about what the government is doing with their money, when in some states it isn’t their freaking money to begin with. Their money is barley keeping roads in one piece in their own back yard let alone pay for anything on the national level. We have states with sociopath representatives making waves in government and deciding how our money is spent and they come from states that leach off the same people who disagree with them on nearly every issue.
“Of the people, by the people, for the people”. Everyone now! “By the people, for the people.” Why I say this, because taxes are paid for by the people to be used for the people. Not corporations, not just the wealthy.
If you don’t need subsidies you don’t get them, period. Liaise fair capitalist should love this. Live and let die right? Competition right? Small government yeah? Then why is the government giving money to corporate America? Why do we have to give conglomerates money to adjust to environmental concerns? Obey the law of the land. You can’t pollute, that’s what we as the people decided, adjust or die. Screw you’re cap and trade, screw you’re fiscal carrots on a string. .
How’s this? They pollute, you severely fine them, they keep doing it, you arrest them. I will bet my ass that they would get what ever they had to do done much quicker if that was the only option.
And the people, now. Now…times are tough, I understand. You don’t need a tax burden, yet…. a government “by the people.” You voted in and tolerated boobs who misspent money, who started wars, paid too much for them, who deregulated the finance industry and let people who really like money run amok. Picture giving the keys to a pharmacy to a bunch of drug addicts. And then yes, we have to pay for it. Unfortunately, the bail out was most likely a must. Not forgetting or belittling the loss of jobs, education funding and speculated wealth you like a moron believed existed. (They never did)
Now, this all is your fault when it comes down to it. Misinformed, closed minded, lazy and biased you failed yourselves. So you’re telling me that because you did such a shitty job at being a populous you shouldn’t keep paying taxes?? That’s similar to handing a hammer to a child and refusing to pay for the damage he causes….and it’s your stuff he broke to begin with.
It’s time to suck it up, and realize three things that will have to happen to right the ship.
- Taxes will have to go up.
- Corporate influence in the government must be greatly diminished.
- Tax laws in general need a massive overhaul.
