The Occupy Movement, About Freaking Time
It’s great but what’s next?
I have been waiting for a movement such as this since I was 15. 17 years watching it all slowly play out. I used to write poetry about corporate greed and the watering down of culture due to faceless names with identity and no liability and you can bet your ass I made those two rhyme.
At points totally disenfranchised with my species let alone my countrymen. Wondered how much would it take, how long before the masses prove whether or not they had the spine to do something about these scumbags who have been at it for 30 some odd years.
Finally uncomfortable enough to pull their heads out of the sand and making me proud. I love it. All of you around the world. For too long it only seemed like idiots had anything to say and that maybe we were on the road to extinction. I certainly wasn’t going to count it out. There wasn’t a populous anywhere that didn’t seem occupied with some sort of ego centric crap or religious tomfoolery. Then all of the sudden, Iran, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and now finally New York and the rest of the world.
The rest, cattle that still think they can buy into the aristocratic class. Bigots, elitists and godless capitalists with no allegiance to God, country, or humanity. They have shown again and again their self worship and disdain for the human condition.
From the puppet masters, to the talking heads, to your loud mouth Rush Limbaugh worshiping neighbor, show them no harbor. Cease to bite your tongue, turn the cheek or play dumb. They choose willingly to take the word of conglomerates like FOX over their fellow men. They unapologetically back the self serving, barbaric ideas of the GOP and most likely internally label you all sorts of things.
Remember that they are the ones who give ratings to FOX. That vote these criminals into office and that would throw you under the bus in a heartbeat. Know this because their minds are not going to be changed merely because of protests. Hell, they have been calling protesters anything from welfare recipients to out right criminals.
I do not aim to ignite bad mojo I just want to make it clear that the entire culture has to change starting with their backward ideals. Misinformation is a huge part of American culture whether we like it or not. A dog eat dog, what have you done for ME lately attitude has taken deep roots in out sociological understanding of how things should work.
These are things that have to be done away with. Such ideas, those who bombard the media with their agenda and the people who believe the misinformation have to be marginalized the same way the middle and lower class along with journalistic integrity have been increasingly marginalized over the last thirty years.
We must say no to ignorance. There can be no live and let live for bigotry, for unethical business practices, for the mixing of church and state. These thing must find their end and it starts with taking off the kid gloves and putting our respective cancers in their place. Controlled and shrinking until they are no more.
Not only do must the regulations in the financial sector be replaces, the ones in communication have to be replaced as well. Break up the large monopolies that own nearly all media. Pass laws that make it illegal to pass off opinion as reality and press charges for radical slander. Yada yada yes, I know. There are many thing that must be done. But first, the conservative dogma. Kill the idea to kill the practice of the idea.
